Vancouver priest announces that Ephesians 5:22 is invalid

Vancouver Catholic Priests Fr. Guy Rivard‘s homily was scandalous.

On Sunday August 26 2018, Father Guy Rivard who is head pastor at Saint Mary’s Catholic church in Vancouver had the responsibility for presenting the Sunday readings.  That Sunday the reading was about Ephesians 5:22.  Here is the passage:

Wives and Husbands. 21  Be subordinate to one another out of reverence for Christ. 22 Wives should be subordinate to their husbands as to the Lord.r 23 For the husband is head of his wife just as Christ is head of the church, he himself the savior of the body. 24 As the church is subordinate to Christ, so wives should be subordinate to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and handed himself over for her 26 to sanctify her, cleansing her by the bath of water with the word, 27 that he might present to himself the church in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. 28 So [also] husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one hates his own flesh but rather nourishes and cherishes it, even as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man shall leave [his] father and [his] mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”

Then the scandalous and deceptive, and at best–erroneous commentary began.  Father Guy stated that the Catholic Church has deemed the passage as invalid.  Father Guy also stated that he is very troubled that “he has to read that passage” once every three years.

Many Catholics consider his statements odious and even bordering on herticical.  The Vancouver Diocese, especially Bishop Miller must censure this priest including a letter to all 100’s of catholics who had to hear this deviance.  There were also many young people who now believe that the Catholic Church has rejected and deemed invalid Ephesians 5:22.  It would be injudicious for Bishop Miller to do anything less.  Now we know why Pope Francis has condemned Clericalism and warned the faithful against it.  Because clericicalism is what Bishop Miller will have commited if he does not censure Father Guy.

Of course the Catholic Church stands behind Ephesians 5:22 and even offers OTHER VERSES to back it up.  Here is the link.

Join us in demanding that Father Guy be censured and Bishop Miller offer an apology and letter to all the parishioners.
